The Soft Consonants
All hard consonants, except r and ł, have soft equivalents.
Hard consonants: c. dz, s, z and n, written: ć, dź, ż, s and ń are spelled soft, shorter than their English counterpants;
Soft consonants ć, dź, s, ź and ń before vowels a / e / o / u / ą / ę, are replaced by their corresponding hard consonants followed by i. |
